December 17, 2013-Bhangra!!
Today on December 17, 2013 we got to learn bhangra! At first I was a little hesitant to perform the moves, but after awhile I started to get the hang of it. The main goal for me for this gym class was to try my best, and to just smile, laugh and to have a good time. I think I achieved this goal as I was smiling the whole time when we were practicing and when I didn't pick up the move, I asked another student in the gym block who had more experience than I did, to guide me through a specific part of the dance. When each class got an opportunity to perform the dance, I tried my best to perform it nicely and I was also smiling and laughing a lot with Karen while doing the dance. Overall, I had loads of fun and next time when we learn another type of dance, I want to put even more effort in to it from the beginning and to not feel shy when people are watching me.

December 12, 2013-the Fox and the Hound
Today our class and Mr. Vaughan's class played The Fox and the Hound. I decided to play this game instead of going to the weight room because I enjoyed playing this game last time, and on my previous blog post for the Fox and the Hound, I mentioned that I wanted to play it again. The reason why, is because it is a really fun game, and for me this game maximizes my participation in the gym block too. During the game I tried running rather than walking, however I was more careful because there was ice on the ground and I almost slipped a couple of times. Pallvi and I were partners and we were able to get the whistle for around six minutes. Last time when I played, my partners and I never got a chance to blow the whistle once, but this time we were able to blow the whistle for a fair amount of time. I didn't just walk with my friends and talk; Pallvi and I made many attempts to find the foxes. Even though it was cold outside, and even though there was snow and ice on the ground, all those things didn't make me want to stop playing the game! When Pallvi and I were running away from the hounds, I was running and then the arm of my sweater got caught on the fence and made a little rip in my hoodie! When someone tagged us when we were the foxes, we made the class fun for everyone by not lying and by not saying that we weren't the foxes because that would of made the game no fun for anyone. When Andy and Nicolas were the foxes, they were on the other side of the upper field, and Pallvi and I were far from them, but we still ran to go tag them. I was even farther away from them then Pallvi was, but I still took the effort to sprint and catch them. I didn't just let them pass by; I went after them no matter how far away they were from us! Pallvi and I found secret hiding places within the boundaries while playing the game and we had a good time! I had an even better time than last time! :)

Fitness Tuesday-Partner A and Partner B
Today for fitness I wanted to use a heart rate monitor to see how hard I was working so I took the initiative to ask for a heart rate monitor. Marcia then decided to get a heart rate monitor too so I'm glad she followed my lead and I'm glad I was her motivation to go get one. Unfortunately, my heart rate monitor wasn't working but as you could tell in class, I worked hard! I didn't slack off once and I pushed myself! At the end of the block when I was heading toward my fourth block class, I felt really proud of my effort that I put in to today's class! Also, in my fourth block class I felt really tired from the exercising I did, but I knew that it was a good sign because that meant I had a good workout. Overall, this is one fitness that I know Mr. Neufeld will be proud of me. I tried being more outgoing and to not "hide" in the background. I am proud of my efforts and I can't wait for next fitness day!

December 7, 2013- Rolling Pushups!
Today I did three sets of ten rolling pushups, however I took small 20-30 second breaks in between the sets. It was actually very difficult so then I decided to modify it and do the pushups on my knees. This was more of a challenging activity for me but I decided to give it a try. I got to exercise my stomach and arm muscles.
December 6, 2013-The Triple Threat
On fitness Friday, we did the Triple Threat and it was my first time doing this activity for fitness. Before we started Mr. Neufeld said that you can make this fitness day either really easy for yourself or you can make it really difficult for yourself; it all depends on how hard you push yourself. I think I pushed myself hard and I tried my best to maintain the exercise movement for the full minute. I didn't just do the minimum, or do the exercise for twenty seconds and then stop. When I was doing my exercise, I looked over at my partner to see which exercise she was doing so when it was time to switch, I knew what I was going to do next and I didn't have to waste time trying to figure out what the next movement was since we only have 60 seconds to do the exercise. Lastly, I contributed to the fun of the class by encouraging my two other partners. I encouraged them by performing my exercises to the best of my ability which allowed them to follow my lead and to not stop. If I stopped doing the exercise movement, they would of not been motivated to keep on doing the exercise and then they would slack off. At the end of the block, I felt tired! Here is a picture after the workout :

December 4, 2013-Capture the Flag
On December 4, 2013, our class played capture the flag. Last time when our class played capture the flag, I didn't go to the other territory's land, however this time I went on the other side more often. Even though I still got tagged while crossing their land, my main goal was to be more outgoing. Instead of just staying on my side, I tried to make the game more fun for myself and for everyone else by going to the other side. I ended up in jail a couple of times, but I still kept on going to their territory. When my friend from the other side, came on my side, I still tried to tag her because it wouldn't be fair for everyone else if I didn't tag her and that's how I made the game fun; by competing with my friends!

December 2, 2013-Fox and the Hound/Marco Polo
Today we played a different type of game that I haven't played before and this gym block was about following the rules and about having fun. Right when my group got the whistle, my partners and I ran through the woods at the back of the school by the pond, and I tried so hard to run away from the three people who were chasing after us. I went down on my knees when I was in the woods and I put all my effort in to trying to run away from the three other students. Even though the three boys chasing us caught me, it didn't matter because I gave it my all, in order to try to escape from them. There were many bushes, shrubs, and sharp branches in the woods, yet I still got down on my knees when I was trying to get over the mini ditch. I could of easily gave up and left them tag me sooner but I didn't because I didn't want to let Marcia and Melissa down. I didn't cheat while playing the game because that would have not been fun for anyone and it's not fair either. When I was in the forest area running away from the other people, it was fun because I felt like I was in a movie trying to escape from the bad guy. In conclusion, I participated in the activity, went by the rules, and had lots of fun!

December 1, 2013-Weight Machine
Today I lifted twenty pounds on the weight machine. I did around two sets of six reps while lifting the twenty pounds. I first started off with lifting ten pounds but then I decided to go on to twenty pounds to challenge myself. My arms got a really good exercise!

November 29, 2013-Fitness Friday
On November 29, 2013 it was a fitness day and we didn't have gym all week so I wanted to make sure I worked hard. We got to participate in the stations where we spend around 40 seconds at each station and then move to the next. I tried doing something new each time we were at the stations. For example, at the running station the first time I ran, but the second time I skipped. I made the class the best for everyone when I was at the sliding station. Instead of sliding myself on the cloths, I incorporated other people in to my exercise by having me run and drag them while they are on the sliders. It was really fun to do it that way and the person dragging the other person got a really good workout because they had to run and use their arms to pull the other person. So the person running got to incorporate a part of their lower and upper body at the same time. I also made the class fun when I was at the ball station where you throw a ball to your partner and your partner catches it. I encouraged my two friends to use a heavier ball instead of using the lightest one because I know they were able to carry the heavier one. This made the class fun because it challenged them and allowed them not to take the easy way out by using the lighter ball.
November 28, 2013-Partner Activity and Dodgeball
On November 28, 2013, both band classes participated in a partner activity, which I thought was pretty fun because it allowed us to use our imaginations and be creative instead of being told what to do. Before we started, Mr. Neufeld told us that this course is about making the class the best for everyone. You obviously still need to work hard in class, but you have to look at the "bigger picture" by contributing to make a fun class. If everyone contributes a little bit, the class would be really enjoyable. So when we did the partner activity, I made the class fun to be in by smiling and laughing a lot, and on top of that I tried my best. Since this was a partner activity, I made sure that I tried even harder because I wanted to make sure my partner had a good time in the class as well. If you don't try or participate, the class won't be fun. When we did an activity, I put all my effort in to make sure my partner would find the class to be enjoyable too. The other activity was dodgeball. When we first started playing, I was a little reluctant however after a few minutes passed, I got more in to the game and started to move more toward the front because if you stay in the back, it's not fun for anyone and you will never get tagged that way so there is no point of even playing the game. In the beginning of the game, the question passed my mind "How will I make this class fun" and then I realized that I should move more in the front and throw more balls. So that's what I did and in my opinion I think I made a difference to the class. In this gym class I think I showed a lot of positivity. I showed even more positivity than other gym classes because I got to hang out and bond with more people from the other band class too. Overall, I enjoyed both activities and I hope to do something similar to it in the future.

November 20, 2013-Capture the Flag
On November 20, 2013, I decided to participate in capture the flag on the upper field. Mr. Neufeld told us that the reason why we have choice days is so that we can choose an activity that will maximize our participation in the gym block. So I felt that capture the flag would be an activity where I would be able to participate a lot, as this has been my favourite activity since elementary school. When playing capture the flag, my role was to stay on my territory and to "capture" all the people from the opposing team. I ran a lot while I was trying to tag all the people from the other team. Not only did I get my heart beating faster, but I also had a good time as I was laughing a lot with my friends. I didn't just stand there and gossip with my friends, I actually put the effort in and made this class fun for everyone. For example, when someone from the other team came on our teams's side, I didn't just stand there and watch them; I made an attempt to go and tag them. I wanted to make sure that I really focused on my physical exercise today since we don't have gym all week, and I am happy for achieving that goal. :)

November 17, 2013-Endurance
Today I did around 30 jumping jacks without stopping once. This was a simple and straight forward exercise, however it was more of a difficult exercise to attain. I endured all the jumping jacks and it was actually very tiring! After the jumping jacks, I took a 30 second break and started doing sit ups. I did around 10 sit ups and took another 30 second break. After the sit ups I performed some leg kicks too. I followed this pattern over again but with different exercise moves each time. In the second set, I did a plank for 1 minute, jogging in one spot and arm punches. As you can tell, today I really focused on endurance.

November 14, 2013-Yoga
On November 14, 2013, I decided to do yoga. I already did volleyball and basketball on other choice days so that's why I thought it would be a good idea to try something new today. I haven't ever done yoga in my gym class so I was eager to know what the experience would be like. By the end of the block, it put me in to a very calm mood and I felt very stress free. While doing the yoga, I got to stretch out many different muscles in my legs and arms. Mrs. Phillips showed and taught us all kinds of different exercise movements, which I will now try myself when doing yoga again at home! :)

November 12,2013-30 seconds On and 30 Seconds Off
On November 12, 2013, we did 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off as a form of fitness. I properly executed all the exercises to the best of my ability. Sometimes if I couldn't perform the exercise, I modified it which helped me a lot. By the end of the block, I was proud to say that on a scale from one to five, that I deserved a five. Not only did I push myself but I had fun while doing it!

November 10, 2013-Yoga
For 30 minutes on Sunday, November 10, 2013 I did some yoga. It was very peaceful for me to have some alone time where there were no distractions. It cleared my mind and was very soothing! Overall, it was a good form of physical exercise!

Interim Report:Gym Period 3 -Day One- Active Learning Reflection
My Own Thoughts:
Since this is a linear coarse, we haven't had a lot of gym classes together, however we have had enough classes for the teacher to have an idea of what kind of students we are. For my work habits mark, a fair assessment for myself would be a G. I think I deserve a G because I have showed my preparedness for the class by always having my gym strip and changing in to it before the class starts. I am good with punctuality as I am never late and I have not missed one class yet; I attend class regularly. I cooperate with everyone in our class and I always have a positive attitude, I don't whine or complain when we have to play a sport that I may not enjoy as much as the others. Even if I don't enjoy the sport I'm playing, I still participate in it and try my best to make it fun for the people who do enjoy the activity, because I would want them to do the same for me. In the beginning of class before we do fitness, I always actively listen to Mr. Neufeld when he tells us what the main purpose of the class is and what we should be doing during the class in order to make it successful. By doing that, it shows my respect towards my learning. On fitness days, I push myself a lot and I am mentally strong to motivate myself to keep on going even if I'm tired or even if my body is starting to ache. For example, we when did the pond run I made sure I ran for the full minute. In addition, when we did the beep test this week I pushed myself to not stop and to run one more way across. Both these examples lead to the success of the class and it leads to the happiness of Mr. Neufeld because he will be proud. I demonstrate a healthy lifestyle by eating the right kind of foods and by exercising daily as shown in my blog. I create a safe environment for my peers by not performing an activity or using equipment without the teacher's instructions. I update my blog on a daily basis and I write some kind of write up for every single gym class. I make myself personal goals that I hope to achieve, which is a very important part of gym class. So each day when I walk into the gym, I know what I'm aiming for. Therefore, I think I deserve a G.
Questions:
During PE this year, how have you shown you are prepared and willing to participate
in a variety of activities? On what days have you participated to your best effort and
why? What days have been a struggle for you and why?
During PE this year I have greatly shown my preparedness, as mentioned above. I am always here on time which show that I'm responsible and I never forget my gym strip for class. By doing those two things, it shows that I am ready to participate. You can always rely on me because I have built my own reputation from September to now, by showing everybody how I am always coming to class. Not only do I come to class, but I come with a positive outlook toward the Active Learning Department. Coming to class is one thing and your attitude in the class is a whole other thing. I am willing to participate in anything the teacher wants us to do. If I feel uncomfortable performing the sport or activity, I still do it because that's the only way you're going to make the class a fun place and that's the only way you will discover new interests and hobbies. The days I participate to my best effort would be fitness days, however I participate to my best effort in every single class even if it's not fitness. I absolutely know that I participate to my best effort on fitness days because that's the day when the the teachers give us a lot of encouragement and support to push ourselves. So their words of encouragement truly do help and give me the confidence to go out there and work hard. The days that have been a struggle would be fitness days, such as when we do the beep tests. These are the days that I work the hardest, due to the amount of motivation needed in order to get a high score. These days are a struggle for me, however I always find a way to persevere through it and make my gym block successful.
How do you contribute to the overall success of the class? What kind of attitude do
you bring and why? How do you interact with other students in our class?
In every single gym class, I contribute in some shape and form to the overall success of the class. It may not be very noticeable to my other peers, however it does make a difference. My positivity and my smile makes the class a more welcoming environment. During gym class, I laugh a lot even at the little things. I contribute by participating in the activity or sport because if you don't participate, you're letting your whole team down when you're playing a sport with your own team. As mentioned, I always bring a very positive attitude because that's the only way gym is going to be fun. You will have more fun at school if you wake up in the morning with a positive attitude. When I first came in to the class in September, I was really quiet because I did not have a solid relationship with anybody in the class. I did not take band last year so it was my first time bonding with the band students. I have made some new friends so far and I have opened up to them as well. At first when you meet me, I am quiet but as we continue to talk and get to know each other better, I am a completely different person and I talk way more too! I met Pallvi this year in gym and she is a really great friend to me because she was one of the people who was willing to form a friendship with me, along with some others. Overall, I am able to cooperate with all the students in the class and I hope to meet new people and build new friendships with them as well!
Describe your participation during fitness days - have you been able to push yourself
physically? What types of fitness activities do you enjoy the most? What fitness
goals do you have for the rest of the year?
On fitness days, I can absolutely push myself physically to keep on going. My goal for each fitness day is to get a good work out, in order to make my body stronger. I really enjoy doing the loco motion. We have not had a chance to do the loco motion this year, yet from my experience last year, I enjoy it because you are able to do a variety of activities instead of just running back and forth like you do in the beep test. I also enjoy doing the beep test because it allows me to have a chance to improve my score and to make my teacher proud. My fitness goals are to always improve each time we do the beep test in the year. I want to get a score of 9.5 by June. I have set this as my goal because I know I have the confidence and motivation in myself to achieve it. A goal that I made in the beginning of the year was to have better pacing when doing the community run and I have achieved this goal so far. When we did the community run I focused on my pacing and I was able to spread my energy throughout the jog instead of wasting all my energy in the first ten minutes. This will still be a goal of mine as I will continue to focus on that whenever we do long distance runs. I personally enjoy fitness days better than regular days because fitness days are the days when I have an opportunity to set an important goal for myself and to get a really good workout.
What does "leadership" mean to you? Who are the best leaders in our class - why?
Leadership is key in gym class as it is a skill that you will need in your everyday life outside of school. Leaders aren't always the people who just have a loud voice and are able to shout out loud and command everyone what to do. Leaders are the people who take initiative and volunteer to help organize games in gym class and who are a great influence to the class. Leaders are also the people who do very well in PE by improving every time and by pushing themselves. So the word leadership to me is the process of taking charge and being able to organize activities themselves. I have taken leadership in the class by not running to the change rooms as soon as we are done for the day; I wait a couple of minutes and help put the equipment away or watch someone else how to correctly put it away so I know for next time. I cannot pinpoint out certain people in the class who are leaders, but many people in the class do show traits of being a leader. In order to be a leader you have to be able to take initiative/be a role model, and push youself to strive for success. I think I need to improve in this category a little bit by being more outgoing to the class and help out more when organizing activities. I am able to push myself which shows the other students that I am mentally strong however I need to improve on the other part of being a leader which is to be a bit more outgoing and loud.
What improvements would you like to make in PE by the end of the year? What are
you the most proud of so far?
The improvements I would like to make in PE this year is to be more outgoing by showing my leadership more and to keep on improving on my beep test scores each time. I am most proud of the fact that I improved my beep test score from last time. I know I can get an even higher score but I am jubilant that I had the strength in myself to get better.
Finally, what letter grade A, B, C+, C, C- (gulp) best represents the effort you just described?
As described in the first paragraph, I think I deserve a G and an A for a letter grade. I think I deserve an A because I am always putting all my effort in everything we do. I have a positive attitude, push myself, set realistic goals for myself, create a safe environment for everyone and exercise at home too, not just at school. To summarize, I am enjoying gym class so far and I can't wait to see what my achievements will be at the end of the year in June.
Since this is a linear coarse, we haven't had a lot of gym classes together, however we have had enough classes for the teacher to have an idea of what kind of students we are. For my work habits mark, a fair assessment for myself would be a G. To summarize, I am enjoying gym class so far and I can't wait to see what my achievements will be at the end of the year in June.

November 4, 2013-Beep Test
Today we did the beep test for fitness day. I am proud of my effort because I improved my beep test score from last time in September. I know I can get a higher score because by the end of grade eight, I was able to reach level 9. I am proud of myself today because I improved. I am still happy about my score, however I am more happy about the fact that I was able to improve. Even if I just improved by a couple of beeps, it doesn't matter because I still got better. Mr. Neufeld told us that today was about properly doing the beep test and to not cheat while doing it. So when I made it to the line before the beep, I waited for the next beep and then ran. Sometimes I even had to remind myself to wait patiently until I heard the next beep. In grade eight I would get a head start and run without waiting to hear the beep because I didn't know we had to wait for it in order to start running again, however this year I made sure I waited for the beep and then ran. After the beep test, we recorded the data for the other small exercises. I'm glad to know that I improved on the muscular strength and endurance category. I also improved in the balance category. The next time we do the beep test, it will be my goal to get a score of 8. I also want to improve my flexibility and my speed. This is realistic for me, as I know I have the confidence in myself and the strong mind to achieve these goals.

November 3, 2013-Weight Lifting
During the evening I lifted two five pound weights. I performed bicep curls and I executed three sets of ten reps, which means I did thirty bicep curls. I am proud of myself because I have incorporated weights in to my daily exercise. This video shows a small portion of my exercise.

October 31, 2013-Ping Pong
On October 31, 2013 I decided to play ping pong in the hub and the main purpose of today, was to just enjoy the gym block. My friends and I played ping pong and I had a really enjoyable and fun time. When other people were using the ping pong tables, my friend and I did not just sit around and watch them, we made an attempt to play ping pong on one of the hub tables. Even though it was harder to play on those tables, we still made the best out of it and it was better than doing nothing while waiting for our turn!

October 29, 2013-Fitness Tuesday!
Today on October 29, 2013, everybody participated in team rallies, which was a new fitness activity I have done and it was really fun because we got to socially interact with our friends, while doing a variety of activities that were mostly done with a partner or with the whole group. When we performed the exercise, wheelbarrow, Pallvi was carrying my legs and I had to move my hands on the ground in order to move all the way to the cone and back. Even though my hands were very tired after applying pressure to them on the hard ground, I still did it for as long as I could because my team was depending on me to complete my portion of the rally. When we did the "Under and Over" activity, we had to work together because that was the only way we were going to complete this activity. If we didn't work together, we wouldn't of gotten nothing done on time and it would of been a big mess. I had to be very fast while doing the rally because not only am I relying on myself to complete my portion, but three other people were also relying on me. In conclusion, I was laughing a lot and having fun with these activities. I was smiling a lot and I made sure I spread my positivity with the other people around me.

Ocotber 27, 2013-Stretching Before My Jog!
On October 27, 2013, I was stretching before I went on my jog, like I always do every Sunday to get some fresh air and to get exercise. Since the band classes had no gym all week, I really wanted to make sure I worked out, by going for a long jog in my neighbourhood. As shown in the picture, I stretched my tricep and bicep muscles. I also stretched my hamstring, calf and quadricep muscles in both my legs. I always stretch before I do some sort of physical activity to get warmed up. After I performed my warm up, I went jogging and I made sure I had a good pace, so I could sustain the same speed throughout the jog. Thus, I enjoy jogging as it is a very good way to maintain a healthy body.

October 18, 2013-Fitness Friday-Insanity
On Friday October 18, we took part in insanity, which is a very good exercise routine since it involves a variety of exercises to the lower and upper part of your body. I pushed myself hard and actually performed the exercises instead of just pretending to do them. Even though it hurt my body after repeating the exercise over and over again, I had a strong mind and persevered my way through it. So therefore I am very proud of myself and I can't wait for next fitness Friday!

October 16, 2013-Large Gym.
On October 16, 2013, our class was in the large gym and we first started off with a warm up. We were in groups of four or five and we did a relay. We had to perform all kind of exercises such as push ups, running and other creative exercises. I had fun by laughing because although it was a race, it was meant to be more of a fun activity. Even if I didn't feel comfortable performing the exercises, I still did them because I wanted to make the class fun for everyone. Later, I chose to play basketball. I'm not a very good basketball player but I tired my best to be open so someone could pass the ball to me. I participated in the activity and put all my effort in when playing.

October 13, 2013-Thanksgiving Dinner!
My family and I cooked our Thanksgiving dinner today and it was a very tasty and healthy meal because the meal included fresh vegetables, mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing, and a bun. For a drink, I made punch! I also helped my mom prepare the delicious meal in the kitchen!
The turkey right when it was just taken out of the oven.
My dinner plate:)
October 13, 2013-Walking Outside:)
Today during the afternoon, I went outside for a walk in my neighbourhood. It was a nice sunny day out so I decided it would be better to get my daily exercise outside instead of exercising inside. I power walked with my mom and it was actually really fun!

Fitness Friday: October 11, 2013
On Friday October 11, 2013, everybody participated in the community run. I felt that it would be fair to put myself in the jogging group based on my beep test score. I did not walk during the run, I mainly jogged the whole time and if my friends and I decided to walk, we made sure we were power walking. Once we started speed walking for around 30 seconds, I encouraged my friends by being the first one to start jogging again which motivated them to follow my lead. Or sometimes one of my other friends would be the first one to jog again, encouraging me to follow them. So as you can tell, we work as a team! I made sure I had a good pace by not sprinting in the beginning and then becoming tired after 10 minutes. I kept a good speed so I was able to jog basically the whole time with the exception of one or two breaks. As you can see, this picture was taken right after I just finished the run and so my face and cheeks are really red. Overall, it was really enjoyable to exercise on fitness Friday!:)

October 9, 2013-Badminton
On October 9, 2013, Mr. Neufeld's class was in the large gym and we had a choice to play either soccer or badminton. I decided to play badminton because personally, I enjoy this sport more since I played badminton during the summer every evening with our own set up backyard net. I had a lot of fun playing with my team due to their humour and encouragement! I was laughing for mainly the whole time and even when I hit the birdie and it may not of went over the net or went in the wrong direction, we all laughed together and that's why I had such a blast playing! At the end of the block, I put Pallvi's and my racket away and by doing something simple like that, it showed leadership and kindness toward my classmates. I was unsure of how to disassemble the badminton nets so I watched Karen put it away. Next time, I will be able to do it myself with a few people for help. On the whole, I got one hour of exercise in a very enjoyable way! I laughed and smiled the whole time which will lead to my success of this class.

October 7, 2013-Volleyball
Today in gym class, our class was in the large gym and we had an option to play either basketball or volleyball and I decided to play volleyball. Even though volleyball and basketball are not my favourite activities to play, I still participated in it and tried my very best to make it fun for the people who actually enjoy volleyball. When we were putting the equipment away, I did not run to the change rooms, I took my time and opened the equipment door for Jason and a few others to put the pole part of the volleyball net away. For me doing something small like that was both kind and helpful. When I didn't hit the ball successfully, I put a smile on my face instead of being disappointed which showed that I was positive. I put all my effort in to try to hit the ball whenever it came to me so my team could defeat the opposing team, however today wasn't about who the best volleyball player was; it was about having fun. Overall I enjoyed playing volleyball and now after today, I actually consider it as one of my many favourite activities to play.:)

October 5, 2013:Orbitrek
For 30 minutes on October 5, 2013, I was exercising on the Orbitrek, which allows me to tone my lower body. After around five minutes on the Orbitrek, my heart rate slowly started to increase. Today on October 6, 2013, my legs feel really sore which means I know that I pushed myself hard enough.

Terry Fox Run!
Today after period two, I participated in the Terry Fox Run. I power walked the whole time, which increased my heat rate! I enjoyed participating in this significant event because I knew it was for a good cause:)

Fitness Day: October 1, 2013
Today on October 1, 2013, I participated in a variety of stations, such as the bosu ball station and the wall station. I tried my best to do something creative and different at each station. The first time I was at the bench station, I went on and off the bench using my legs and feet. Then the second time at the station I did push ups incorporating the bench. In the skipping rope station I skipped using both feet then the seond time I skipped using only one foot. This fitness day allowed me to have more fun by giving me the freedom to perform my own kind of exercises.

September 29, 2013-Home Exercising!
Today on September 29, 2013 I did multiple sets of sit ups on the exercise ball while listening to music to motivate me.

Fitness Friday: September 27, 2013
During gym class today, we did a variety of exercises such as jumping squats, push ups and jumping jacks. The teachers couldn't keep track to see if everyone did 12 jumping jacks so it depends on what you do for your own self. I felt that I worked hard and pushed myself to do 12 push ups even if it was difficult for me. I put all my effort and energy into this fitness day as I want to maintain a strong and healthy body. My friend and I started the workout together; performing the same exericises but by the end of the block we both were at different paces and exercises because all of our bodies are different and my pace is not supposed to and did not match my friend's pace. I even tried making up some of my own creative exercises to make the fitness day more enjoyable and fun.

September 25, 2013-Gym on the Field
Today in gym class we were on the field and our goal was to organize our own activities without any guidance from Mr.Neufeld or the P.E T.A. I listened carefully to the other students in the class which is helpful because by just listening, we were able to make the teams and we were able to play for a fair amount of time. The people who decided to play ultimate, chose captains which formed the teams and it was a quick way to get everyone on a team. The only disadvantage to that was being the last person picked, but I think we overcame that con because we made sure a sensitive person wasn't picked last. I also touched and passed the frisbee while playing ultimate several times due to the small teams which was very beneficial to me because in grade eight gym class, I didn't get to touch the frisbee that many times.

September 22, 2013 Exercising at Home!
Since it was raining very heavily today, I decided to exercise on the treadmill instead of going outside.

Fitness Day:Pond Run September 20, 2013.
This picture was taken on September 20, 2013, when everybody participated in the pond run. Personally, I thought the pond run was not as challenging as it was for me to do in grade eight. The reason behind this, is that I focussed on my pacing this time which helped me very much because I did not stop once while we were running on and off for one minute. Mr. Neufeld reminded the class about interval pacing before we started and his advice was very helpful. I also had a strong mind to keep on running even when I was starting to feel tired.

September 18, 2013 Gym Class
Today in gym class, September 18, 2013, we played ninepins in the small gym. In my opinion, I thought it was a great game to play because everyone seemed to be enjoying it and I had a really fun time. I contributed to the class by simply laughing and following the rules. Even if someone knocked my pin over, I still made the best out of it and laughed and smiled to my friends.

September 16,2013 Gym Class
Today in gym class, I tried my best to make everyone feel welcome in the class and to make sure everyone was enjoying the class. My contribution to the class was by giving many people a ball when they didn't have one. Sometimes I picked up two balls that came to me and I passed it to someone else who was looking for a ball. By doing something little like this, It will make this class a fun evironment to be in. I also met and talked to a new student in the class. I waved hi to a few people in my gym class when I see them in the hallways too, to show kindness to them.
