May 16, 2014-Hill Run

On May 16, it was fitness Friday and for fitness we did the hill run at City Hall. The last time I remember doing the hill run at City Hall was in the beginning of the year. So reading the whiteboard saying that we were doing the City Hall hill run, made me excited because I knew there will be some kind of improvement from today's block, knowing that we haven't done this exercise in such a long time. While we were walking to the hill at City Hall, I knew this wasn't going to be easy and I set a goal for myself to sit out for only one of times we would run up. When we actually started the hill run, the first seven sets were not too hard. Doing the second set of seven, was the point where some people started to get tired. Obviously, the last set of seven was the hardest especially at the end. I did not sit out for any of the runs and I ran each time the whistle blew. I was very proud of myself because I remember last time when we did the hill run I sat out for a couple of them. Continuing to run up the hill near the end of the block was extremely difficult because my legs were aching and I could of had easily sat out for one of the runs near the end, but there was no way that I was going to do that because I knew my body was capable of doing it but only if I set my mind to it.  I was so close to needing to sit out for one of the runs near the end but luckily I was able to persevere my way to the top. After today's gym block I had a taste of what hard work was and it was evident that I had to push myself and demonstrate hard work in order to have accomplished what I did today. At the end of the gym block, I was more than happy with my efforts. Even if I did sit out for one of the runs up, I would have still been proud of myself, but by not sitting out any of the runs up made myself feel even more pleased with my effort. I didn't expect to overachieve my goal on the hill run and to do so, definitely feels great! Here is a video from the hill run:
