On April 9, 2014 our class played speed ball outside on the field. It was our first time playing speed ball and I thought it was very fun. Although I didn't get the ball that many times, it was apparent that I tried very hard by continuously running. At times I found it difficult to get the ball because other people would pass the ball to their friends and wouldn't pass the ball to new people. I think a goal for the next time we play speed ball, would be to try to include people who don't normally get the ball very often, more into the game which will definitely make the class fun for every student. I would want to play speed ball again because it was a mixture of two sports in to one game. I thought that it was really fun and next time I want to get the ball more times which will make it even more fun. On the whole I liked Mr. Neufeld's choice of activity for this gym block because we were able to get a really good exercise in a fun way outside in the sun!
I love the train of thought you have going here. What is YOUR responsibility in a scenario where you aren't getting the ball... what is the responsibility of others? How can we get the most out of it without ONE person taking over or bossing others? Not easy ... wonder what you think?
ReplyDeleteMy responsibility in a scenario where I am not getting the ball, is to keep pushing forward and play as a team. It takes a team effort to win a team sport. Some players may be more skillful with the ball and I like to surround myself with these players, because then I am able to learn and improve my skills from them. The others should recognize the strengths or other skills of the other players and encourage them on what they can do to make the team stronger, it may simply involve passing the ball at the right time. When a game like this is played our adrenaline is pumping and the excitement of the game takes over, so the person with the ball may not be aware of the players around him/her, so they take on more responsibility to score a goal for the team. This situation reminds me when I was in the running club in Grade 7 as I was always the leader in doing the most laps around the field, and I sometimes forgot to encourage the others to not slow down and to not stop taking breaks by walking. So this happens when the adrenaline is pumping throughout your body. Anyways, I am okay with all this because my goal is not to score the most goals or win or lose, I focus more on getting a good workout and that's exactly what I get when I run after the ball on the field. Also, let's not forget it's all about having FUN, and I always do in this class.
